Learning Plans: An Overview

Using learning plans can help you design learning patterns and structure your courses in phases based on the roles, positions, learning requirements, or compliance needs of your employees. Learning plans also provide a way to structure the flow of learning objectives.

Learning plans can be utilized in many ways, such as setting specific learning goals, personalizing the learning experience, monitoring progress, planning courses, and enhancing motivation.

Goal Setting

Learning plans help learners establish clear and achievable learning objectives, which keep them focused and aware of what they need to accomplish.

Personalization

They offer a personalized learning experience that caters to individual learners' unique learning styles and requirements.

Progress tracking

Learning plans help learners track their progress and monitor their performance over time. This allows learners to identify areas where they need to improve and make adjustments.

Motivation

By providing a clear roadmap for learners to fulfill their learning objectives, learning plans increase motivation and keep learners focused throughout their educational journey.

Objectives for a specific phase can a be:

  • Learning objective
  • Page
  • Course

Preparation

For a learning plan to be successful, it is important to do some preliminary planning. Consider:

  • The different roles of the users and the objectives for their learning. What do you want the outcome of the course(s) for them to be?
  • For each of these roles, what do they need to be able to do to meet the outcomes?
  • Which of the learning objectives are compulsory and which ones are voluntary?
  • How long do you expect the process to take? It's a good idea to make a timeline to give you an idea of a time frame and start organizing the order.

Once you have a clear idea of the time frame, the learning objectives and roles and made a plan, you can start to create your learning plans.
