Courses and templates

Courses are made up of slides. Each slide corresponds to the page that the user sees and can have different elements. So, for example, you can have a page with a navigation at the top, glossary entries (dictionary items) on the left, main body in the center and news items in a pane on the right.

You can use course templates to specify the settings that you want for a specific type of course and that define the left menu, the layout, and the type of content for the course type.

The following are some of the types of courses that you can use templates for and the placeholders for the content that they typically include:

  • Blended courses – for courses that are a combination of online and classroom training. Blended courses can contain:
    • A link to the homepage of the course
    • Course documents – not visible to the participants – the roster and course outline
    • A placeholder for slide content.
  • Online courses – for fully online courses where the participants take the course and tests from their work stations. Online courses typically contain:
    • A link to the homepage of the course
    • Course documents – not visible to the participants – the roster and course outline
    • Placeholders for slide content.
    • A test placeholder
  • External courses – for external courses that are taken off the premises including a test, and where participants receive certificates that can be uploaded to the system on their return. External courses can contain:
    • A link to the homepage of the course
    • Course documents – not visible to the participants – the roster and course outline
    • A link to where participants can upload their certificates
  • Face-to-face (F2F) course – for external classroom training courses where participants are taught off the premises and then tested when they return to work. External courses can contain:
    • A link to the homepage of the course
    • Course documents – not visible to the participants – the roster and course outline
    • Two placeholders for slide content.
    • A test placeholder
  • On-the-job training – for targeted training where the training is part of the work schedule and where the manager is the validator. On-the-job training courses can contain:
    • A link to the homepage of the course
    • Course documents – not visible to the participants – the roster and course outline
    • Procedure placeholders
