Add a new Proactive subdomain

Proactive's domain has all content and resources and these are shared with customers through the curriculum repositories. Customers get their own portal which is cloned from the top-level domain. They can create their own content which is not shared with anyone. Skins and templates are cloned from the top-level domain and can be customized for each client. Access is controlled through the shared curriculum repositories. If a client wants to group, restructure, or restrict access to courses, they can do this using the containers in the course catalog.

To create a new subdomain for a customer:

  1. In Full Admin, under Wizard, click Create New Domain.
  2. On the Main tab, enter the Domain Name, contact email, and specify whether you want to automatically create a new customer when you create the subdomain.

    Note
Having specific customers makes it easy to set up particular settings on a customer level, for example, if you want to manage the number of users and their properties that a customer has on their subdomain or you want to manage the modules/features that they have access to.
  3. On the Settings tab, specify the repository that you want to share, whether you want to Reference assets instead of copying them (recommended), and whether you want to reference the default templates or copy them, which means the template is cloned until the customer makes any changes to it.
  4. Under Default Skin Settings, make sure to choose Clone selected skin and set as default for all courses on domain and assign to all cloned cour.... and select the relevant customer skin to ensure that the customer has their own look and feel on all their content.
  5. On the Add Courses tab, select Portal v2 and New Design - Kursusskabelon-Master (all other courses are shared via the common repository on the top domain).
  6. On the Add Group tab, choose All Users and select Assign any portal course cloned to group as default course.
    Tip
If you put an @ in front of the name, it ensures that it is always at the top of the list.
  7. On the Add User tab, create an admin user for your subdomain. This is useful if you need to access the backend of the customer's portal for support situations.
  8. Click Save.
Note
When you set up tenant, making sure to add the same user group that you specified for the domain (all users).

Additional considerations:

  • Decide how you want to set up language versioning and if relevant, set up the language versions for each course in your subdomain.
  • Set up default enrollments and privileges using groups.
  • Set up and define process for assigning admin roles.
  • Assign and enroll relevant courses by default via groups.
  • Set up group types and dynamic groups.
  • Review and test by logging in as an end user and a customer administrator.
