Users and group settings

When you set up a user there are certain settings that you need to be aware of.

In the Retail Academy user rights are managed by the different groups that a user is part of (not the role). By default, users are assigned to the All Users group. This gives users access to the Retail Academy portal. In addition to this there are groups that specify the different companies and departments that a user belongs to. These types of groups work together with two other groups that give managers access rights to additional features in the system:

  • Org Company Managers - this group gives the user access to all the employee statistics and to approve learning objectives for all employees in all the different departments within that company. For this to work, the user must also be a member of the relevant company.
  • Org Department Managers - gives the user access to all the employee statistics and to approve learning objectives for employees in that particular department only. This user doesn't have access to the users in other departments within the organization - only the department groups that the user is a member of. For this to work, the user must also be a member of the respective company and the relevant department or departments (if the user is a manager for more than one department).
Note
If you the user groups are not showing up correctly, this could be due to another user group specified on the Main tab that is overriding the settings on the Groups tab. When a user sets up their information, they only have the possibility to select a single company and a single department, so if they need to be members of additional departments or companies, this is done on the Groups tab.

For example, Kim a manager at Illums Bolighus has two departments for which he needs to see employee statistics and to approve the course sessions for the employees in those two departments. Therefore, Kim must be assigned to the All Users group, the Illums Bolighus company group, the Org Department Managers group, and the two department groups: Royal Copenhagen and Illums Bolighus (T2)
